I have always struggled with making correct citations for research papers or anything where we have to cite. I used Citation Machine, but that never made reliable citations. So, I started to use Cite This For Me.
It is a Chrome App so you will have to go to the Chrome Store. If you don’t know how to, I’ll show you with some pictures on how to get there:
- Press the button that says “apps” on your bookmarks bar.
2. Once you get there you will see the Web Store icon. Click that and the page should look like this:
3. Now all you have to do is search “Cite This For Me” and click install (It’s the fourth one from the top).
- Easy to use, just click this button in your extensions bar:
- No effort needed
- Time Saver
- Uses all types of citation formats (MLA, APA, Chicago, and Harvard)
The biggest pro of this is that it is a HUGE time saver. Instead of sitting and writing a citation, you can just click the icon where it shows up in your extensions tab (look for the blue square) and the whole citation will be shown and ready for you to copy and paste. Another plus is that it’s reliable. The creator updates the app whenever there are changes to the standards of citations, APA has 6 Editions and it uses the most recent one. Also, The app is really easy to use and you don’t to try, all you have to do is click a button and it will be made for you in less than a half of a second, I timed it.
I honestly couldn’t find and downsides to this. Probably the only one but it’s not significant at all is that it can only be used on Chrome, but who doesn’t use Chrome these days?
What Classes would I use it for?
I feel this would fit perfectly with History classes and also English classes. I know that World History requires us to make a lot of citations. Basically, if you know the class you’re taking requires you to cite articles for papers, use this. It works really well and it’s just nice to have for the long run. Why take the chance of messing up your citations when this can do it for you?
